Because the Night by Patti Smyth. There were guys in her band though. Also if mixed counts, Cities in Dust by Siouxsie and the Banshees was good. And Jefferson Spaceshuttle or whatever they call themselves now, and Blondie of course, were good.... maybe Pat Benetar's Hit Me With Your Best Shot. If you mean strictly all-girl, I dunno, "This Town" by the Gogos, or "Woo Hoo" by the 5,6,7,8s?

Oh yeah, HOW did I forget Janis? OK if she counts despite having guys in her band, she did do this interesting cover version of a Kris Kristofferson song, maybe you've heard of it....

I've answered so many questions like this lately, but ok I'll answer it again.

I love songs that make my cry... I have no idea y... just don't ask. anyways. only 3 songs have maneged to do that.

1. Cancer: My Chemical Romance
2. Some Will Seek Forgiveness, Others Escape: UnderOath
3. Emotionless: Good Charlotte

I love these songs! I still to this day cry a little (Not as bad as the first time a heard them) when I hear these songs.

I'm with Truthsayer. Because the Night by Patti Smith is the very best rock song ever by a woman (by the way, the song was written by Bruce Springsteen).

On a more recent note, I really like Black Horse and a Cherry Tree by KT Tunstall too.
