I only know about losing my mucus plug with my second one. I had a show on the Sunday lunchtime and didn't have her until the wee hours of Wednesday morning! I was really excited and called everyone to tell them she was on the way, but three days later she finally made her appearance! My friend started losing hers three weeks before she gave birth!
I didn't have a show with my other two. The first was a long drawn out labour and my waters had to be broken and with the third, my waters broke with a gush (that never happened before) and I went into labour soon after, and delivered within 10 hours.

yes of course. the mucus plug has to come out its blocking the cervix. it can happen up to a week before the baby being born or it can come 10 minutes before. its different for everyone. it is normally a sign that labour is about to start shortly.

I lost my mucus plug 3 days before giving birth. I immediately started leaking after the plug came out. But my son had kicked a hole in the sac so I wasn't completely ruptured...so when they admitted me into the hospital they gave me Pitocin and then the bloody show started.

I have 5; each one was different. On my first, I had a show three days before I started labour; on my 2nd, not until half an hour before I gave birth; on my 3rd, about an hour before delivery; on my 4th, on and off during the day I was in labour; and on the last one, about three hours beforehand.

I had an induction at 37 weeks and they broke my waters so i didnt see any show. I know some blood came out with the water tho. They say as soon as you have a show, going into labour is imminent.

My waters burst and out plopped the mucus plug in one whole piece on the bedroom carpet. (funny looking thing, like a great big s shape lol) Contractions started every 3 minutes and my son arrived a few hours later!

Mine went during labour. If I remember correctly it went about 8-9 hrs before my son popped out, but it was a bit of a blur so I may be wrong.
