all women have hair on their tummy, whether they're pregnant or not. being a hairy little italian, i have more than most, and i DID shave it off when i was pregnant. it just itched like mad when my clothes got tight. the bigger i got, the harder it got to keep up with it, cuz i got to where i couldn't see the bottom side of my tummy. my cousin (another hairy little wop) actually went and had hers' waxed. i was too cheap to pay, so i shaved. once i had the baby, i kept up with it cuz the stubble was horribly itchy when it grew back, so keep in mind that if you start shaving it, you'll probably have to keep it up. i also was pregnant during the summer, and having very dark hair on a very large tummy was very not pretty! it's perfectly fine to shave it, just be careful to not cut yourself. having band-aids pasted all over a big pregnant tummy isn't pretty, either! i see some folks who seem to think that shaving will make it come back thicker and darker, and that is simply not true. it will APPEAR to be darker when it starts coming back, but the only way to have MORE (which is the only way it would be thicker) would be to grow more hair follicles, which is what the things UNDER the skin are called that hair grows out of. and you don't just grow more follicles for any reason, and certainly not from shaving the surface of the skin. if you can stand the itching long enough to let it grow out, you'll see for yourself, the longer it gets, the lighter it LOOKS, because the longer hair diffuses light differently than the stubble.

Shave it if you want to. It won't grow back thicker or darker, thats a myth, an old wives tale. It's NOT true. Congratulations on your baby boy. A lot of people think that shaving actually makes your hair spiky and coarse and that once you start shaving, your hair grows a lot quicker. If this was true, balding men would all start shaving their heads! It only feels like the hair is growing back faster and thicker because 12 hours after shaving, the hair shafts (stubble) start to emerge vertically out of the follicles. If you leave the hair to grow out, it will take on its original texture and appearance.
When you shave, it only removes hair on the surface of the skin so it will not affect the colour or the thickness of the hair.

I shave the hair on my stomach, just because i hate body hair. I like not having the peach fuzz anymore, but sometimes i grow tired of having to shave it, because it comes back and its more noticable (darker looking, thicker looking.) If you don't mind having to shave it before you show off your tummy, go for it.

There's a popular say, "if it's not broken, don't fix". If hair on stomach doesn't affect you, leave it and if you want to shave it, contact your doctor but I think there should be no problem shaving. Consider shaving hair on your head.

You could try waxing it. It will be back the next day if you shave it. Maybe the area is too sensitive to wax. Try using Nair hair removal cream instead. You might want to consider laser hair removal someday. It's expensive, but it's supposed to be permanent. There is one other option. You could buy one of those Braun epilators. The hair will take weeks to grow back if you use an epilator.

don't shave! it will grow back darker and thicker and once you start you'll have to keep doing it.
it should go naturally after you have the baby as it is very common but if you must get rid of it wax don't shave

I know someone who had hair on her stomach, shaved it off, and now she has thicker, blacker hair on her stomach, and it looked MUCH better, before she shaved it off.

i take advantage of nair maximum frequently, or wax. They the two have especially a lot an identical effect. seem for the nair that has a plastic curvy thig- after the 5 minutes or so, it takes the hair off like a razor might.
