When gay elites or other gays anounce the fact, and get opinions, they react as if everyone is racist or homophobia.

Like," I got fired cause I'm gay," "everybody hates me cause I'm gay." I'm not a gay basher, i just want to know why everything has to be because their gay. I enjoy the conversations and camaraderie with my gay co-workers until they start playing a victim on every issue.

Hey wide awa, take a look at the sit coms, the mainstream media, television shows. Almost all of them include a gay person, because if they don't, watch out, here come the gay and lesbians with the homophobic card.

So it's also your opinion that blacks were shoving their "blackness" down people's throats during the famous Civil Rights Movement? Because that's pretty much what you're saying here. Where are the "constant reminders" you're referring to? I didn't realize it was a heinous thing to fight for our basic human rights in a so-called free country. Excuse us all for refusing to be treated as second-class citizens. You will never know what it is like to have to battle for your rights, and I suppose that that is your loss. We are only getting stronger throughout this battle.

I suppose part of the issue is that people who are considered GLBT had to live in secrecy for so many years due to very real fears of discrimination or even death threats. I suppose it can give a person a sense of empowerment when they are able to "self disclose" rather than be "outed" and/or "named and shamed" by someone else. I have no problem with gay marriage...however, there are times when I do question some of the motives of the "gay pride" stuff such a parade I once saw in Portland, Ore where I've saw actual public nudity. Other parades don't allow that, so why should the gay parades be allowed to do that? I felt it was inappropriate...especially with children present.

Well, look at the anti-gay marriage proposals that have been passing as of late in many of the southern states. In Texas they cannot even adopt kids. Discrimination is rampant in many parts of the U.S. from religious conservatives and others, and gays are simply pointing us to the fact that they exist and are good people.

They want society to mind their own business in the bedroom, so they can go on with their lives. They also want people to have the freedom to be who they are. Announcing that they are gay removes some of the stigma with being a homosexual. It is a kind of identification movement as was the Civil Rights movement in the early years when blacks were fighting segregation. In the future, when things have settled down, it will be less important to think to them to identify gay/straight orientation because society will be more accepting to different types (like blacks and whites today).

Hope this helps :-)

Why do straights constantly remind gays that they're straight, yet expect us to accept less than equal treatment?

Look, maybe some gays do play the victim card, but actually if someone was fired bc they are gay, that seems pretty legitimate.
As far as everyone hating them bc they are gay...I don't get why gays would put themselves in that position...move to a place where gays are more accepted, like NYC or LA or SF...

Why aren't gays allowed to speak of their loved ones? A heterosexual man can talk about his girlfriend, say she's a great kisser or other such things, but if a gay man mentions it, people go ewwww.

Most people don't think twice if a heterosexual person talks about their spouse, but if a gay person mentions it, it's "announcing to the world" this "dirty" fact.

Gays talk about being gay so that people don't come at them with preconceptions or try to stick them in a heterosexual mold. It needs to be recognized to know who that person actually is.

Heterosexuals may not recognize it, but they are constantly "reminding" people that they are hetero. Just by a man saying "girlfriend", or "wife", it's a "reminder" that they are heterosexual. Most gay people are trying to assert their homosexuality in an attempt to remind people that such as us do exist, and that we have a right to be here, as we are.

How many statements are there that are designed to remind the world of the sexual orientation of heterosexuals?
You may not see them, but there are many things a heterosexual man might get away with talkig about that a gay man wouldn't.

The problem is that the opinions that are announced attack the fact that one is gay, it's the same as if I would have the opinion that all English talking men are perverts..; You wouldn't like that either would you?
Okay, I'm gay, but I'm more then that, and I'm quite happy to discuss my ideas about politics, religion and so on... But those are my idea's as a person who happens to be gay and not as a gay...

Haven't you paid any attention to the questions here from countless busy-bodies obsessed over knowing whether their friends are gay? If we were so in-your-face about being gay, why would so many people have to ask? It seems more like the allegedly straight people who are the outspoken ones when it comes to our sexual orientation.

Why do some bigoted straight people shove their lifestyle down our throats 24/7, including 99% of the movies, ads, tv, and magazines, and then complain when we ask for the remaining 1%?

The don't constantly remind people they are gay, they just defend their civil rights. And by the way, the word is "homophobic". Read a book. Go to school. Grow a brain, dumbass.

This is insane... I don't know anyone who goes around announcing that they're gay. I mean, come on, where are you from? The Castro?
