I know Rams are Cichlids which can be sort of aggressive. But I thought Round Bodied Rams were more mellow. The Alpha Ram keeps attacking my other Ram. It is so bad the passive Ram has finlock. I had to separate him. How do I get him to stop?

This does tend to happen.

The only way you should really be keeping more then one in a tank (unless it's a nice, big tank) is to keep an established pair. Rams will not share their territory in peace with other Rams, or other cichldis for that matter, except with a mate.

The best way to achieve a proper pair is to start off with a few extra fish, that way you can be sure you are getting both males and females, and it increases the chances of compatiblity between two of them. Once a pair is formed (easily seen through behaviour) the others would be removed, and the pair will then share the tank in relative peace.

So, your choices here are to either get more Rams and achieve a pair out of them, or remove one of your current Rams and just keep one.

That is normal behavior. The only thing you can do is keep them in a bigger tank with lots of hiding, or put them in separate tanks. Rams will almost always pick on each other unless they are a male and female pair. It sounds to me like you have to males, which is not a good thing. Maybe you should take one back to the store and exchange it for a female.

The only way is to isolate them in different tanks. I know its frustrating to watch that. Good Luck
