yes cloth diapers can help...alot of cloth diaperers use cloth because of babes sensative skin or allergies to the vast array of chemicals in disposables.....when a baby has diaper rash the best thing for it is to change the diaper as soon as itt wet and this can be expencive when it comes to disposables.... for starter i would buy plain old DSQprefolds (diaper service quality) they're easy to care for and last forever www.clothdiaper.com has great ones i love them.. and some nice velcro wraps (for diaper rash i recomend the bumkins vented cover it has a overlaping slit in the back that allows for air flow and suprisingly makes a huge differeance (not so good for nighttime as the vented part can work its way up and cause some leaking)...i also like the dappi wraps they're really cheep and really easy to care for and are probably the least expencive at about 3 bucks a pop (babybestbuy on ebay has the best pric for them..they run a little small)....for out and about u might prefer all in ones its mechanically the same as a disposable but u wash them...their a bit tricker to care for and wash as the waterproof layer can wear out and you can't use bleach ever...kushies makes a pretty good aio but they are known not hold up diapering more then one child (in on my 3rd child with secon hand prefolds)....as for easy care and amazingness bumgenius makes a aio (they're pricy) that can be washed in super hot and holds up to drying...

if you buy new diapers u will need to wash then a few times befor they'll be fluffy and absorbent

when it comes time to wash them remember not to use too much soap (about 1/4 of what u usually use) and depending on your washer you make need an extra rinse cycle and you can add a little viniger to rinse cycle to prevent yeasty diaper rash

its really not much extra work a justa few seconds to plop a diaper in a cover and 2 loads of laundry a week

hope that helps....good luck and happy diapering

i would suggest trying other brands of disposable diapers first. my 3rd son was allergic to EVERYTHING other than "huggies". i had also tried using diaper liners (they are typically used in cloth diapers as to get the diaper less soiled)...

there are A LOT of different brands of diaper ointment on the market now too... i wouldn't give up on the disposables just yet. cloth diapers are a LOT of work and so smelly... and you have to rinse them out in the toilet and then either wash them at home or send out for diaper service (which means a pale full of nasty diapers for a week) AND THEY STAIN and look so nasty that you are purchasing new ones for aesthetic reasons... you can't just bleach the diapers because bleach is a BIG irritant to sensitive skin! not to mention that the plastic cover that you put over the cloth diapers works like a microwave oven... causing the urine or stool to be cooking next to the skin.

i do wish you the best of luck. i know how hard it is to have a baby with an unhappy bottom!

Actually cloth diapers will help with diaper rash. That's coming from a mother of 3 who has cloth diapered so far.

The best way is to cloth diaper. Disposables are a waste.

Cloth diapers won't help with the diaper rash. try corn starch or balmex. I find that disposibles are much better than cloth only because the detergent you use to wash could make it worse.

It may be the diaper your using, i would suggest that you buy balmex that is some good stuff it always kept my girls from getting any diaper rashes. I remember i had tried Hughie's one time on my oldest daughter and i changed the diaper and put balmex on her and it cleared it up quickly.
