i firmly believe that if someone asks a question here on this site, then they have to accept the honest, sometimes sugar-coated, and sometimes blunt answers, they get. some people just give obscene answers for any question they come across and thats just plain nasty.
but you really don't say anything nice. i mean, we all have our moments and give answers people don't like, but you don't have moments, you seem to live in nastyville.
but in answer to your question i think its because everyone loves the thought of babies, and everyone has a favourite, or not-so-favourite, name for a baby. and everyone wants to share the joy of their baby with people in general. so they tell us. and we wish them well, even though we may not like the names they come up with, [and we tell them we don't], we still wish them the best with their newest 'creation'. because no matter what odd name people may choose for their child, that child is still a miracle and we should all be grateful for these little miracles! they are what keep hope alive.
so to all the new or expectant 'mommies' out there, good luck with your little ones and god bless!

Please go get lost on google or go on your little MYSPACE ang leave the rest of yahoo answers alone. If you hate the effin site, why the hell did you sign up.
If you all think Im being mean, read her answers to people's questions and read the rest of her questions. She is beyond the most incredibly "challenged" person i have ever met. She needs to grow up and get a life outside of putting down others.

naming a baby is the fun part of pregnancy. it might be nice to get the opinions of other people from time to time AND i would guess that on occassion you may be offered a name by a stranger that you would have never thought about otherwise.
i personally have chosen names and than asked for peoples initial reaction to the name... i see no harm in asking people their opinions on here or anywhere else really! i've heard of some REALLY stupid names that i think people MAY NOT have named their children if they had JUST ASKED people what they thought ahead of time!

well, maybe they just want to have lots of ideas so they would have the "perfect" name for their kid. Just think, the kid would be having their names for the rest of their lives (unless they go all the trouble just to change it). I mean who would like to end up with a stupid name, right?

İ think people are very capable of picking names for their kids they are just trying to look outside their biast opinion and see if the name they choose for the most precious thing in their life is actually liked by the outside world.

It's for the "oh my God, I can't believe someone's actually thinking of giving a defenseless child that tortured amalgamation of impossible letters as a NAME" trainwreck value.
And to reinforce and validate the decisions of wise mothers who give their children lovely, evocative, dignified names as well.

Do you have children? It's an exciting, amazing thing to get to name your children. It's really not so stupid. I hope someday you feel the enjoyment these people do.

You're very judgmental.
People want to get varied opinions and suggestions they may not have come up with themselves. Who does it hurt?? You? No, so mind your own beeswax!!!
