In society today we are taught to be repulsed by anyone who is what is considered different. Due to advertising that consists largely of malnourished females most people feel that "skinny" is acceptable while "fat" is not. Due to this women who are "large" usually shy away from any clothing that is clingy and will reveal their true shape.
It is not just the self perception that causes them to wear loose clothing. People are often openly cruel and not many "large" women have strong enough confidence in themselves to carry off the look and ignore the comments and looks.
If we each truly look at ourselves we will find that none of us is the perfect person portrayed in advertising and fiction and that each of us is "flawed" in some way.

That's a question I've been trying to pose regarding large women.
Now, was she just big with a flat tummy and midriff and firm butt? Did she have a big belly and midriff and large breasts, etc. In other words was she a lumpy marsh mellow or a firm and big wonder woman?

Because they have programmed to believe their bodies are too big and not sensual. That is why they are at the gym trying to get smaller.

Congrats to her for working out and feeling comfortable enough to put on work out clothes. Most women who are overweight feel too uncomfortable to show themselves. Good for her. And Good for you to support her!
