You're going to have to contact each media outlet. For TV and radio, contact their sales reps and ask them to send you their "avails." For newspapers and magazines, you can usually go to their websites and they will have their "rate cards" available for download. Good luck!

Every media outlet has different ad rates based on how many readers/viewers/listeners it has. For TV, what show the advertiser wants to purchase time on also plays a factor: the more popular the program, the higher the cost.

Contact the advertising department for each outlet you're interested in (you should be able to find the contact information easily enough on each outlet's web site) and ask them to send you a copy of their rate sheet or media kit. Sometimes you'll be able to just download that info straight from the site. Let them know it's for a school project ... otherwise they might think you're interested in buying some ad space and they'll never leave you alone. ;)

I remember, during the Superbowl, commercials cost millions. However, on a regular TV show, I would say that a few hundred thousans dollars seem like a realistic figure. Magazines and newspapers charge less.
