Okay, well first you should be proud that you are recognizing that you are having some problems. I have been working in this field for 6 years, so I am a firm believer in "everybody can use someone to talk to." A therapist, psychologist or social worker is an unbiased ear. If you are having problems and you want someone to talk to and help you, AND you think these problems may be stemming from within yourself, then it might be wise to see someone. Nothing bad can come from it, just good. If you are unsure whether or not to go, decide what is stopping you from going and/or not going? Just the mere fact that you are thinking about it, is source in itself. Best of luck to you in your future.

Mental distress is much like physical distress. If you are experiencing some form of pain/distress that continues not to go away, it's best you seek some help from a professional. It's tempting to want to "tough things out" for awhile, but if the going is rough, and it's affecting the rest of your life, it's better to seek help than continue on in pain. Life is worth too much.

Well, the rule for psychiatrists and therapists is mostly that if you think you should go see one (seriously, not just joking around..), then you probably should. If you're having serious issues, it may be because of a chemical imbalance. Having serious thoughts about seeking help is a good step, but it usually means that you need to.

I believe that you could give it a whirl, ya know? What do you have to lose? I saw a psychologist when I was having issues with life, and it saved me... if you're feeling depressed sometimes you get out of touch with what is really reality and you forget that there is different way to look and go about life. And sometimes just knowing that there is someone to talk to, that helps too.... it clears your mind =)

i don't think there's a blanket answer that covers everyone, but from the little you've said i think it might be a good idea for you. If you don't like how it works, you can always stop or find someone else.

It's good just to get things off your chest and get another focus on your problems. I would definitely try to talk to someone. God is an awesome person to talk to also. He will help you find your way. Just ask him to send someone your way, he will.
Good luck!!!!

If you asked that question, then you probably need someone to talk to. Someone who is not close enough that you would feel inhibited talking to them. Someone who could give you some professional advice.

When you think you should see one, you should probably see one.
As for those who need it but don't think they do, they can only go when they decide to.
