Hi jane, my little girl's name is maia so I have to say that I love it but we do have problems with pronunciation and spelling, the most common being called mia.
It can be annoying at times, especially when you have told the same person at least 6 times how to say and spell it, but it is a boho chic name apparently (I read an article the other day on cool kid names) and it does has some very beautiful meanings in Roman and Greek mythology.

I have a girl in my class whose name is Maia which everyone just wishes they had the same name as her. Maybe that girl's name will make everyone jealous too!!!

I think it's really cute!
Might cause issues later for the child as for spelling and pronouncing. I have a common name but spelled much different then the usual. I hated it as a child because I always had to tell people how to spell it, and some didn't believe me. As I got older I began to appreciate it more. I now love my name!
Just keep that in mind.

would you consider changing the spelling to Maya? Love the name but not the spelling.
