Well, in contrast to Oklahoma, California agrarian industry was centered around a small number of large landowners. Oklahoma was mostly small tennant farmers. So, when the dustbowl hit and the migration ensued, many of the rich farmowners were able to spin this in their favour, so they filled their pockets at the expense of the middle class and the "Okies".
The group most hit by the migration was the middle class. The large influx of workers dropped the cost of labour, Unions lost their clout, and the price goods went up because landowners would destroy tons of their crop to secure their price. They'd literally dump things into a river and hire armed gaurds to keep starving migrants from getting to it. People were generally afraid that this "invasion" was going to destroy their way of life. These "filthy" people were filling their schools, setting up large bum settlements, and taking their jobs, when the rich were really to blame for not doing their part in easing the Depression.
In the end, it seems that the effects are still happening to this day with Mexican labour, people feel that there is a large threat, and It has the potential to cause mass hysteria. But if you look at it, the middle class in California is going extinct, the price of everything is overinflated, the rich continue to stay rich, gang violence is rampant, and farmers continue to take advantage of cheap labour.

The Dust Bowl migration impacted California and specifically the Central Valley because crops could not be distributed or planted due to a drought and the depression. The economy came to a halt.

I stay in the Willamette Valley in Oregon, purely up I-5 from the significant valley in California. each 365 days we see further and further illegals, all of our colleges have hispanisized, besides as a huge area of the department shops on the city. they are coming up the limited-get right of entry to highway from California and Mexico, that is like watching the sewer backing up out in the direction of the bathroom and coating the full place in crap. the only plumbers are government workers, and as all of us understand, they have have been given their thumbs up their asses.
