hook the cd drive up inside of your pc first. take the cover off, locate where it goes, make sure all your screws are tightened, the power and data cables connected, and then turn the pc on. if you are using windows 2000 or later, it should automatically detect and install the drive. of course, you can always put the cd in that (should have) come with the drive
