I was a CJ major as well. I have been working within this field for 6years now. I wish you the best of luck. I think that the best website for you to search for internships within the social service field is www.idealist.org. This website has helped me find a few jobs! I like this one because it gives you the option of narrowing down to just searching for internships. Another website that might be helpful is www.socialservice.com. Or you can go to your local public defenders office or district attorney's office and ask them if they are looking for interns. Good luck!

I suggest that you write a resume and cover letter. State in your cover letter that you wish to go to law school, but would like to work in a lawfirm over the summer beforehand in order to get some exposure. Also, I suggest that you apply for positions within your local courts (federal and state) as a clerical worker or bailiff. You may also wish to work serving process for law firms. I did it for 2 summers and it was great. It paid well also. I STRONGLY suggest that you join the law school admissions council NOW, and that you register immediately for the LSAT. Try to take it in June. If you can't, that still leaves October. Law Schools admit on a rolling basis, which means they consider the application AS SOON AS THEY RECEIVE IT. Most begin accepting applications November 1 or 15. Register for lsac at:

http://www.lsac.org

It is expensive! But, in order to attend any accredited law school in the USA, you MUST register.

I'm sure there is a lot of work down there with suing insurance companies to pay the the recent disasters.

I'm sure that you could hook on with a firm specializing in that work.

This isn't exactly the place to be looking. Try the career placement office on campus.
