Excessive ultrasounds can be harmful to a fetus. Even if it were possible to purchase (or "build") your own ultrasound machine legally, it takes a trained sonographer to operate the equipment and decipher what is viewed on the screen. Medical facilities pay $15,000+ for ultrasound equipment.

If you're willing to pay for it, there are places you can go for an elective 3D/4D ultrasound. Packages usually range from $150 - $300, but it is a bonding experience and the visual results are amazing.

NO!!! It would be dangerous. That's why when Tom Cruise bought that ultrasound machine for personal use on Katie...everyone freaked out. All the doctors said it is dangerous for anyone other than a professional to use one. Maybe you should try and get a 4D ultrasound. www.4DBabies.com will tell you a place you can go to in your state.

try babywaves

they are a little pricey if you are broke but they will make sure to find the sex of the baby for you (eat chocolate or sugary candy 10 minutes before appt to wake up baby)
and the pictures are much better than the docs sonagram
