You don't smell the rain, you smell both the trace amounts of chemicals brought down to the Earth by the rain, and also the bacteria and mold that grow on moist surfaces after it rains.

You can't smell the sun because the only part that reaches the earth are UV rays, which are not detectable by the human olfactory system.

the sun emits light created by billions of explosions and we feel the heat. the rain is water that has condenced in the air a few kilometres above our heads. the reason you can smeel rain is because of the change in the air pressure. the only reason the sun and rain are both listed as weather is because humans tend towards stupidity. rain is weather; the sun is lack thereof.

rain brings down the pollutants from the air. Since the pollutants have an odour, you will be able to smell it. That is why on smoggy days when it rains, you can smell it strongly. But sun rays are energy. They do not bring down pollutants.

as the rain falls, it being a liquid...it dissolves various impurities, gases, dirt, dust etc in itself from atmosphere which makes us feel that it has smell....actually rainwater is odourless and tasteless....as simple drinking water...
now...sun is a plasma emitting cosmic rays quite far from earth...at much higher temperature...so there is no scope of impurities to be dissolved in it....
