hi gurooV! u can choose to *not* have itunes7 automatically sync by setting the "manage music and videos manually" option. once u have this option set, u control what songs are copied to ur ipod by manually dragging them from ur library to ur ipod. because, yes, unless u make this setting change, a lot of songs might be deleted from ur ipod if the songs are not in ur itunes library when u sync ur ipod.
here's how u set the option:
1. start itunes and plug ur ipod into ur computer.
2. when u plug ur ipod into ur computer, itunes displays a screen - on the Summary tab of this screen, check the box next to "manage music and videos manually".
now manually copy songs from ur itunes library to ur ipod:
3. on the left side of itunes where ur ipod shows up in the list, click the arrow just to left of ur ipod name. the arrow will then turn into a down arrow and display a list beneath ur ipod (take note of the "Music" item in the list).
4. now, again on the left side of the itunes window, click into ur itunes music library so all of ur songs show up in the right-side of the itunes window.
5. finally, select and drag the songs u want to copy to ur ipod and drop into the "Music" item in this list below ur ipod on the left side of the itunes window!
once u get ur itunes7 set up, please subscribe to my FREE video podcast on iTunes: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=183309259
