How id the ending in the film THE NOTEBOOK different to the book?

If I remember correctly, Allie dies at the end of "The Notebook" book because Noah's character is still alive in "The Wedding" which is about Noah and Allie's daughter and her husband. He is trying to rekindle their passion using the advice of Noah who still lives in the Nursing Home.
