I've really tried revising, but i just feel so lazy!

Ive given up for today but i really want to knuckle down tomorrow - so how can i prevent myself from slacking tomorrow?

It´s easy to slack when you feel overwhelmed, or that there is just too much to do. OK. Forget revising today, but make a plan for the next few days - list out the things / topics that have to be done, maybe make a few notes in point form under each of these headings. Then you know exactly what is awaiting you tomorrow. Maybe it´s not as bad as you thought. Or if it is, seeing it listed out will convince you not to put it off again. If you feel lazy, choose the shortest / easiest task, or the one you enjoy the most. Then cross it off your list and find the next-to - most appealing task.
Hang your list up somewhere where you will see it a lot of the time.
Good luck. Just Do It.

1) revise in twenty minute chunks with ten minutes quiet break (no watching TV!) between each chunk. After twenty minutes your brain gets distracted and lazy anyway so you aren't actually learning much after that point anyway. Quickly review what you revised earlier at the beginning of the next session.

2) draw on a single sheet of A4 paper a list of days between now and your exams, and write down what you are going to revise on each day. This makes things seem more real.

3) motivate yourself. Get some previous years' exam papers and try to do them in actual test conditions - e.g. silence for an hour and a half or whatever. this will probably scare you into revising!

4) give yourself specific times to enjoy other stuff - go swimming or see a film or whatever - that way you don't feel like you are missing out when you are at your table revising.

5) cut out external distractions when revising - close the curtains if necessary, no TV, music etc. EVER! Work at a desk, on yuor own, no friends around, just a text book or possibly two, and your revision exercise book with dates clearly marked on the pages. Start a fresh page for each main subject. Use lots of headings, read ink to underline important stuff etc. Only ever use the right hand page - don't use the left hand page - "back" of the previous page. For some reason using both pages confuses and tires your mind.

6) plan your revision and stick to it - e.g. 5 til 5:20 revise, 5:20-5:30 break, 5:30-5:50 revise, etc.

7) remember what a rubbish life you will end up having if yuou fail your exams. It's only a few hours work and the benefits last a lifetime.

I did all the above and more and got a BA first class and two different Masters degrees later on.

It's all about ruthless application of effort. Don't bother spending hours and hours revising badly, just do high-quality revision - i.e. in short chunks and repeat it often until you understand and remember it.

good luck.

Think about what will happen if you don't ,obviously you may not pass your exams but what other consequences would that have for you? Would you miss out on uni, not be able to get the job you want? You need to find something to motivate yourself Then make a revision plan that is realistic and reward your-self for sticking to it.

I love Nike's phrase, "Just Do It". Get your butt out of bed. This is a new day and do what you need to do. As time goes on, you will get better and better and better. Are you suffering from depression???

I don't think there is really a "cure" to slacking. I think you just have to make up in your mind you are going to do what you need to do. Motivation, determination. What are your dreams? What are you passions??? Get going!!!!

I think you should drink more water, becuase water is the source that transports all the nutrients to all the parts of your body, and don't drink excessive amounts of coffee, alcohol, tea, or protein. If you drink any of these beverages, maybe consider replacing them with water. Or you could also start with vitamins.

I to know what you mean. I say get inspired, think of the positive benefits from doing a fulfilling task. When lazy, force yourself to move!

The three word question, "cure to slacking?" can best be answered with these three words: "Git 'er done!"

Go drinking!! Have about twelve double whiskies and ten cans of lager. Then fall over drunk in the gutter covered in your own vomit.
Always works for me.
