Double entry journal style in an English assignment means that you are going to record something that came directly from the book or text on one side of the paper and on the other you will write your impression of it. The purpose is to help you find ways to connect your own experiences or thinking with the book/text. I attached a website that may help you. There are alot of different ways to do it. The one I attached is just one way.

A double-entry journal, also called a dialogue journal, is a two-column document in which the reading "speaks" on the left-hand side and you respond on the right-hand side.

It sounds like bookkeeping where you debit and credit different pages. However, this is unlikely for an English homework. Give me some more informaton - what do the instructions actually say word for word.
