okay, maybe my last ? wasn't specific enough. what i need to know is how do you wax a car. ster-by-step instructions. what do you do from start to finish. wash it? dry it? leave it wet? what? i am really clueless, this is my 1st car. i keep hearing things like dry it, then buff it, then polish it, and i don't really know the difference between any of these. and what exactly is "clay" ? i've heard that it works wonders on older cars. my car is a 93 thunderbird, so the paint, in some spots is wore down, but overall it is in good shape. the products i have are: turtle wax high gloss delux edition paste wax, armor all "wax-it-dry" dry gel, and a "random orbit" buffer/polisher thing i bought at sears. what should i use, how do i use it, and what is clay. remember, 1st car and i need step by step instructions please.

OK...First,wash and dry your car under the shade. Dry it it well so no water will be flowing on the wax as you put it on. Apply wax on any surface, not under direct sunlight, preferably from top to bottom. Make sure you only apply 2-3 square ft at a time. Doing so will make it easier for you. Allow wax to dry to a haze, use microfiber cloth to buff it out. A buffer...you don't really need, due to complications, it usually turns out uneven. Polish it by hand so can feel for yourself how smooth its getting. As for wax-as-you-dry,that stuff only last for a week. A clay bar is used to remove any rough surfaces you feel on your car. Try feeling your cars' surface after you wash/dry it. Notice the sand paper like feeling? You first spray the cars surface a portion at a time while you start rubbing the clay bar onto it. You will notice a rough feeling while doing this and it is normal, you're actually sanding out road grime and other dirt that car wash did not take off.Just remember to keep it moist while your rubbing the surface as it makes it easier to do.Waxing your car without using the bar will make your car smooth but you can still feel the roughness there.Only use the bar every 4 months, depends on the condition your car is.Car wash usually takes off everything,so the bar is unnecessary every time you wash it.As for wonders...it will feel smoother, not looking better. It's a pretty old car, so it won't look as new but it will feel smoother with the bar.

You buy a wax, any wax, and then read the instructions. They will tell you exactly what to do. Every wax is different. Some are applied to a dry car, some to a wet car, some you buff, some you dont. Read the instructions.

Wax on, wax off.
Rent the movie Karate Kid, you learn how to paint the fence, sand the floor and wax the car and as added bonus you will be a black belt ninja by the end.
