Walter R. Brooks, who wrote the "Freddy the Pig" children's series. Written between the late 1920s through the 1950s, these books are true classics.

I have two favorite:
Eleanor Estes -
She wrote the Moffat Family books. But my favorite is "Pinky Pye" and "the Alley."
Elizabeth Enright -
She wrote the Melendy Family Series plus others. I especially love "Thimble Summer" "Gone Away Lake" and "The Sea is All Around"
I have all of each author's books and read and reread them all the time.

I like the book The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
(I also like Louise Fitzhugh(harriet the spy) and SE Hinton(The Outsiders.)

Robert Munsch. The kids love him. My favourite is the "The Paper Bag Princess". I also like Eric Carle's "The Hungry Caterpillar" for the littlest kids. I like Marjorie Sharmat for the next age group of readers. She wrote the "Nate the Great" series.
