why do they have a blue field and is it within NCAA regulations?

I was referring to playing home games on blue turf, while wearing the blue jerseys.

Boise State purchased blue field turf for their transition to D-1A. They decided on blue as blue is their primary school color. They thouht it would be neat and maybe a nice gimmick to have something different, something that nobody else had. ESPN picked up on a school with blue field turf and since it was unique and cool, Boise State got some games televised that normally wouldn't have been broadcast. Since they were getting more TV games than most other conference teams, they had a leg up recruiting better players and it just spiraled to the success they've had today. Turf can be any color, there is no limitation though.

As far as blue jerseys. They aren't the only team with primarily blue home jerseys. Off the top of my head I can think of Duke, UNC, MTSU, Florida and UCLA in D-1A. I know I'm missing a few more and probably some obvious ones at that.
