In the UK the term "flag day" means the day a particular charity sends its volunteers out to collect money from the public (e.g. with collection boxes in front of supermarkets). It is called a flag day, because a pin with a small paper pennant of the charity was given to donors, so that they could display a visible symbol that they had made a cash donation (nowadays stickers are used). Therefore the UK has many flag days. This is totally unrelated to other countries' flag days which are an official celebration of their national flag.
