There is not a 100% hacker proof wireless router out there, but setting any security will keep your neighbors away, and unless you have some highly sought after info or something on your network the hackers that can get into a wireless network wont waste there time doing yours.
Your friends more likely dont know anything about wireless networking, thats why they give you faces.

I have a locked wireless router and don't seem to have any security problems (or none that I'm aware of!)
I have taken my laptop to my mum's house and can link onto her next door neighbour's wireless router. My laptop will also tell me there are others in the area but I can't access them - so presumably they are locked.

NOTHING on the internet is unhackable,trust me,if people can hack the gov,anything is possible.so i say if u have the security enabled,your just as well on a lan! (straight eathernet connect line)!!good luck,Huck
