yes i believe they should apoligize and have action behind there apology people are in such denial and do not our problems relate back to slavery even today because our familys were set so far behind not to mention the psyhcololgic and emotional impact it has on the race in to day's society they have a taken a survey of children were given corporale punishment, and they have found thatcorporale punishment causes addittional problems for the child now i don't necessary agree with this because of the bible and what it say's, but if this evidence has any truth to this belief at all, imagine" the whippings and the suffering of being put on auction like a animal and we were denyied the rights of our very existance of being called, a human being- and the master or in some old stall comeing into your wifes and the man rapeing your wife and now she haveing the master children and beating them and your husband you weren't allowed to marry, and then he's so sick he can't wait to screw your daughters to the thing most people today are apalled at we they here of a pedophiler today! yet it was a common thing then ! plus when the slave woman had the baby they try and knock the milk out of her breast so she can't feed the child now so there's been damages one can't even begin to comprehend , and also i live in one of the better neighborhoods in the midwest and when i go to a store, on every corner there is europeans or other nationaltys selling us food and other things and also the justice system was design for the poor and the misfortuane and the black person, the country we live has apoligized to the native nation and they have gotten land stipends if you can prove you are some part indian american you recieve a stipen and even in the asian society American has apoligized for hiro shema but none has taken place for the African Americans, and in order to heal from something you need to acknowledge something wrong has been done, this why African Americans are in the state there in because there is no healing but the real healing starts with GOD and accepting his son and reading the bible, text it does state that this thing would have transpired as well so one has to look at both sides of the fence and relize our own people inslaved us now I relize this is not a popular subject but that is the absolute truth I know a African and whom a friend of some one I know and he tell's the story of how is ancestor were involved in the slave trade.

You know, I'm a Black American. My great, great grandmother was a slave and she was the slave master's daughter. We've found the will of the slave master who had her and her husband listed.
People of today had nothing to do with what happened in the 17 & 1800s. I know many Black Americans talk about reparations but to what avail?
I mean really, am I suppose to track down my white relatives (which, I'm sure they wouldn't appreciate) and demand something? I don't think so.
America needs to stop living in the past and learn from it, then correct the injustices that are happening now.
You and no one else has to apologize to me. Of course if you're one of my white relatives --- hey, let's get together and do some more digging into our family history. It's quite fascinating.

It's just silly. The Blair faced liar apologises for the actions of our ancestors (The fact we outlawed it then got other countires to follow suit should be taken as the apology), yet won't apologise for his own mistakes shows just how shallow and insincere he is.
By the way, I was in Sierra Leone as part of the peace-keeping team in 2000 or '01, and was shocked to discover that black-on-black slavery TODAY is ten times higher than white on black was at the height of Britain's involvement. Why isn't this reported more?

No. I don't believe that we should have to be apologizing, we can't be held responsible for what our forefathers did before us.
We have nothing to do with it.
I'm not trying to be rude. But really. Come on we were not even alive back then.
Thank you.

No, the people who are apologizing were not involved, and neither were the people they are apologizing to. The people who vote for this are just trying to score political points, anyway.

no. i don't. it's generally accepted by most governments that it was wrong. besides, many cultures were enslaved throughout history. it's just that the most recent one gets the most attention.
