In some cases, but it'll be much harder and take a lot more time. On some cars, it's probably not possible at all. It's a lot easier to have the transmission out on a stand where you can work on it.

you can replace some stuff,but when it comes to stuff like the front pump,the tranny has to be out.

NO YOU CANT PULL REAR HOUSING OFF TRANSMISSION WHILE IN CAR. BECAUSE THE REAR HOUSING BOLTS TO THE TRANSMISSION SUPPORT
