The Triune Godhead (God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit). But no number in and of itself is inherently "magic": I'm a Christian, and am exasperated when other Christians say "666" is demonic. It's just a number, a number that will somehow sum up antichrist when he's revealed. but because it's appropriate to him doesn't make the number itself demonic, in the same that AIDS doesn't make those letters (or the words they represent) inherently evil. same with three.

Many reasons, as stated already the 3 wise men and the Trinity - Father, Son and Holy Ghost and in literature you often find stories revolving around 3 people. For example Cinderella and the 2 sugly isters. It is common to find 2 older brothers and one younger one going on a quest where the younger one prevails. This type of story goes back many many years - Charles Perrault wrote the story of Cinderella long before Walt Disney got his hands on it! Similarly Hansel and Gretel had to pit their wits against the witch who wanted to cook them, the list goes on but I'm sure you've read enough now...hope that helps x

It's a good number- the first prime, the beginning, middle and end, that de la Soul song, and what have you.
It's also a hard working number. The Tao Te Ching has it that one came out of nothing, and two came out of one. Then three came out of two, right? What did three produce? Ten thousand, which stands for everything... that's pretty good going.

because for christians 3 p.m. is the miracle hour, the number people believe is when jesus rose from the dead.
but a spin on it, for those who believe, 3 a.m. is the demonic hour. they do it as a mock to christians. i believe it.
