She says its hers and she could do whatever she wants with it. I don't agree. I think she's wrong to hold on to the ring if she doesn't want me anymore, afterall I paid for it.

The ring should be returned to you, regardless of the circumstances involved in the break-up. Not only is it the right thing to do but it's legally yours too. An engagement ring is like a contract, which is fulfilled on the wedding day. Until that day, it belongs to you, even if she has possession of it. The only reason you should not get your ring back, is if it were sold to pay for expenses incurred by canceling the wedding.

You gave that to her as a present and you can't go to court even and get that ring back. That is why you should think first before you waste your hard earned money, some woman collect engagement rings just for the heck of it. She isn't obligated to return that ring, if she throws in your face garb it and run, don't let her talk you into giving it back , she can hock or sell that ring. If you took her to court she could just say she lost it, it feel down in the garbage disposal , there is al kind of excuses that you can't prove is wrong.

If she broke off the engagement, she should give the ring back. There was a day when either of the two broke off an engagement, the other could sue for breach of promise. Check that out and see if there is still such a law. I would demand the ring back and thank your lucky stars you didn't marry her.

It's not wrong at all. An engagement ring symbolizes a promise and an intent to marry. If that is broken, the ring should go back to the giver. She has no right to keep it. Get that ring back!

Sorry to disagree with you but it was a gift that you gave her on your own free will and if you were smart enough before you gave it to her you and her would have made an agreement that if you'll broke up she would give you the ring back. But your dick was thinking and not your head, so be glad your finding our how she is. Just think if you had married her and then she divorced you. You would have lost a lot more. So count your blessings and next tkime make an agreement and have it on paper.

No it's not wrong, the ring belongs to you. It is not a gift in the regular sense, but it is a symbol of the promise of marriage. No matter who breaks up, the ring goes back to the man. There have been court cases on this to prove it.

I read somewhere that if the guy breaks of he engagement then the ring certainly belongs to the young lady, but if the girl breaks off the relationship, she MUST return the ring. Go to Ann Landers.com and ask your question- bet you get the same answer.....

If she broke off the engagment then the ring should be returned to you, the ring was given by you with the verbal contact that marriage would take place...the ring is yours and if she refuses to return it you can sue and win in court

If SHE broke off the engagement than she is obligated to give it back to you. The engagement ring was given in agreement to eventually marry, since that didn't happen she needs to give it back! You can sue her and they'll make her give it back. I saw this on Judge Judy several times. :o)

Dude, take a stand and sue her in small claims if she does not give that back. I am serious! She should not get rewarded for leaving you. Do not let her get away with it.

Further, remember, other women are watching. If you back down, you'll look like a doormat and women will NEVER respect you. Fight it all the way, and you will get respect from women.

NICE GUYS FINISH LAST!
