To answer your question: neither, to nuke them would bring about the Nuclear Apocalypse, ending life on the planet earth in a matter months.
You forget to look at why or how this conflict exists, here's what I think:
I believe this is exactly how the western government wants the public to feel. It is exactly the kind of trigger the US and Britain need to justify a war with Iran.
In all likeliness the troops will be returned and WW III would be avoided but in my opinion this is just another tool, like WMD's in Iraq or Katrina to instill Bush with greater power or the blunder in Afghanistan, created to serve president Bush and his administration. Those sailors and marines were probably sent out there with the sole intention of being caught in Iranian waters.
The goal is either justification for a full scale invasion of Iran or to pave the way with public support of a full scale invasion of Iran.
For the Americans reading this post: When Bush declares Martial Law what side will you choose? Follow the government, through all of its corruption and safety; or resist, protest, and demand your freedom and your voice from a power hungry president and a corrupt government. The government is supposed to be "of the people, by the people, for the people" not "of the powerful,by the government, for the president"

Are " nukes " the only solution to every problem with your governament ??
i have read some where "The Direct Use Of Force Is Such A Poor Solution To Any Problem That It Is Generally Employed Only By Small Children And Large Nations"
I think there should be some difference between childrens and Big nations !!

There is no doubt they will return those soldiers, to hurt or kill them would be an act of war, and they would not stand a chance against us.
The problem is, we need to let them hold onto them long enough so that the rest of the world doesn't think they are scared, we don't want to embarrass them, but we are part of the UN, and allied with America, even without these bonuses, we have the best army in the world, and our weapons are far superior.
We don't WANT to fight them, and believe me, they really don't want us to go in there and get them, so it's a fine balance of them looking like they COULD have kept them, but chose to hand them over, and us not getting to impatient and escalating the situation. If it comes to it, we will be in and out with our soldiers intact in less than 24 hours, and then they will look very stupid indeed. Any country that tries to take on the UK has always failed, we have a strong relationship with Europe, and America and Austrailia are on our side too, what loony would try to start a war with someone in our postion, over 15 soldiers that were 'spying'.

If nuking was the solution to all disputes, then the bomb would have been used 1000s of times since 1947.
That aside, Iran should be dealt with firmly but diplomatically. There are many routes available from International courts to the UN to National Sanctions.

iran is just another country that like to wind up the western world (look at us we got the oil and you havent) just like iraq they have been pushing it for years. dont let yourselfs be fooled they want war they could have just let the men go but no they have got to try and make a point even if it means war i say give it to them, the entire middle east is going though what we went though 200 years ago in evolution terms we were once war mungering bastards then learnt to become more peaceful they are going throw the same thing and they will have to learn the hardway. its a shame that it seems to be all coming to this but thats the way it is.

Iran kidnapped the 15. That is in itself an act of war. Any excuses they offer are lies to delay their coming rewards for their monstrous behavior. Once again showing the folly of paying the goat herders for oil they happen to be squatting on. The response should be swift and deadly. There is a cancer grown almost beyond control in the Middle East. The longer the delay in 'curing' it, the bloodier it will be for the entire world.

I think the British government hung them out to dry. They're cannon fodder. Years ago this would have started the war but 15 soldiers is a pretext to war. This is the excuse the government needs.

No we should apologise for our people entering Iranian territory and beg for them back as they would have to do if 1 of their military ships was caught in our waters.

if you are not British then they are not your soldiers, I say they did this because of the UN its all a ploy to keep the UN from voting on a resolution against them , Maybe if we disband the UN we might not have these problems the UN does nothing anyway.!!!
