I've found that the best site to get facts about the planets is at: http://www.solarviews.com/eng/ Just click on Mars and it will bring up a concise description and a table of facts about Mars as well as some pictures of Mars.

nasa.com has a incredible ammount of info and pictures on the planets and solar system. think if i remember it correctly they landed a probe there but it only lasted 2 hours before melting. not sure give it a go
