Why is it called a Mealworm?

It's what amphibians and reptiles eat as part of their diet. looks like a worm so it's mealworm, though it's just a beetle baby.

No, it is the larva of the darkling beetle.
They are called mealworms because they are wormlike in form, and they live and develop in meal (ground grain).

It's called a mealyworm. Yes it is really a worm, kinda whitish and fat. Blue Birds love to eat them. Don't know where they got their name.
