Sorry guys but i know you has lots of poor people but your wealthy includes more than the population of my humble country. No sponsor like Tata or whatever tries to do asnything about it.

How come nobody in india is complaining no cricket in the olympics? I mean, that is one area you guys can medal in other than shooting things. I suspect with one billion people there are tons of areas that india has the best person in.

Of course that means my country, so unhappy with out result (which per capita only little less than usa) will be likely worse but well, ...

The reason is cricket, cricket and more cricket. Be honest when u answer this: Who do you think are more physically fit - cricket or hockey and soccer players? This cricket tsunami has swamped all other sports and if the betting scandals don't make cricket less popular, our medal tally in the Olympics will remain pathetic. P.S. Even guys with paunches can play cricket for national teams. Lol

India is HOT! The climate is not conducive to sports .... what are you expecting of people ... and maybe it is not in India's best interests to be interested in sports when there is so much other work to be done .... when there are such serious shortages of water, food, and the like ...please have a heart!!!!

You know ... it is not that long since India gained its independence.......do you expect a child to bounce back from an illness and take to the same schedule? No, it takes time to work and take on a schedule again ... after such pain for (how many hundred years???) it is not reasonable to expect India to be strong and healthy yet.

India is like a living organism, and all parts must be healed before there is strength. Sports are important ... but your love for your country and your countrymen is very important.

Do not be so disparaging of India! India is not pathetic. India is beautiful. India is a very great country. What matter that the rest of the world is jumping over little rods and making downhill races look so easy? India is coming together now, recovering from foreign invaders.

It is typical of sickness that the person / organism / body of consciousness is not aware of its illness BECAUSE the illness is so severe.

Be patient with India. It is just starting to get its wings again. Be patient and loving ... or you will do it harm.

What?...there are many many errors

Anyway...I'll attempt to answer
As we know the majority of Olympic atheletes that are any good at all are what?...the poorer class or have come from the poorer class. However, since the scouting and resources in India are scarce the people who are scouted are either less than worthy or downright shabby they are not discovered ,not to mention the social structure and ways of etiquette. Formally, people of India have a certain amount of humility and respect for that of passing of lineage. If your father was a banker it is likely you will also be a banker out of mere culture and respect for your father's trade. In reality the facts are clear that interest in such a trivial passtime is not present as much as it is in other countries ,but of course I'm not from India so I could be wrong. I can only find it awkward that we hold such idol praise for people who are doing nothing more than competing in something that ,in the end, will result in nothing more than praise and their own glorified satisfaction. Not that it isn't hard or noble to aspire to be an Olympian, it just isn't practical toward the betterment of mankind or anything so grand.

ha ha...David R makes a good point

you don't know how a occupation is chosen: it rather is not in keeping with what you're good at, it particularly is what pastime society deems for you. Their caste device prevents people from growing to be a member of agencies and opportunities to excel in something. working example, you stands out as the tallest individual India: yet once you're area of the Untouchable caste, overlook approximately ever being allowed to symbolize India. 2d, India is extremely divided: outsiders that seem on India think of all of their ethnicities are Indian. in certainty, their are over 30 diverse communities that each and anybody hate one yet another. If it weren't for British Rule, they might proceed to be 3 separate factions. next, India has the variety 2 maximum corrupt government in the worldwide. it particularly is expected that 40 two% of their tax investment is stolen from federal and state use. that's extensive! no one money the preparation or guidance of their communities. while besides cricket gamers, the salaries of athletes are low. as a result, mum and dad discourage their childrens from even thinking a occupation in athletics devoid of hopes for an prolonged term occupation. Ex: Sushil Kumar who gained a silver and bronze medal in wrestling for India has been working as a electronics assistant. I make 8 funds and hour and nevertheless make greater effective than he does.

India is generaly bad at all sports, cricket, olymipic, hockey, etc, because of two reasons:

1. The whole system of training, selecting, funding and grooms athletes is unprofessionally run. Most grounds are in bad shape and so are dressing rooms. Trainers are poorly paid so best work in private gyms or go overseas.

2. The systems of selecting athletes is very political and corrupt. When money and overseas tours are involved, many people move into the sport and try and control it politically. They promote their own athletes and even accept bribes from people.

Out of one billion we have about 400 million people who cannot have one meal a day; 200 million children are malnourished; 600 million people do not earn more than Rs.5, 000 per annum; 300 million people do not have proper jobs....the lists go on.

And what to talk of Olympics? Whatever we now have...that itself is to be considered great!!!
