Would the sound quality be the same? Would it be worth buying a mp3 with a screen?

It depends on what you want. I did a lot of research between the 2 before I bought my iPod. I'm happy with the decision that I made. :)

Yes, I believe it is. Because if you have an iPod you can use iTunes without having to change them into MP3's. The cost per song is about $1.03 tax included. That being said if you have tons of illegal MP3's you now can cover your behind by having and iTunes account, any people try to get you for having illegal MP3's you tell them you ripped them from your legal iPod songs then deleted the iPod (M4P) ones. Tell them also that you have had many iTunes accounts in the past and just got new ones on different computers. The burden of proof is on the record companies to prove you have them illegally. Even if you have the MP3's legally you have to have a way to prove you bought them or some link, having iTunes loaded with some purchases helps you prove this.

you can also check deals2buy.com they always have some good deals on mp3's...

about sound quality, its not only the player but the headphones you have, no wonder bose sells headphones for over 100 dollars...

hi whoa! if u like itunes, then u really should get an ipod. if u don't use itunes yet, maybe u should download it (free) and check it out before making ur decision. i personally like itunes and find it easy to use to find music, videos, movies, podcasts, etc, so ipod is the only media player for me.

but there are other good mp3 players, and the sound is more dependent on the quality of the songs u download and the headphones u use, not so much on the media player itself - they all will sound the same if u use comparable headphones and comparable quality music download files.

if u go with ipod, i recommend the following video or nano models from amazon (best prices, and more than likely u will pay no shipping or tax depending on what state u r in). the nano is less expensive, but has limited features (no videos, movies, downloadable games). the video is a little more expensive, but u get more bang for ur buck - it supports all the features and innovations from apple/itunes (like videos, movies, video podcasts, etc).

ipod 30gb video for under $240: http://www.amazon.com/Apple-iPod-video-Black-Generation/dp/B000EPNDEG/ref=sr_1_1/103-8059863-2711030?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1174848945&sr=1-1
ipod 2gb nano for under $150: http://amazon.com/o/ASIN/B000EP4TWQ/ref=s9_asin_title_1-hf_favarpcbss_2238_p/103-8059863-2711030?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1JTG7XCCF41KNTASFB3X&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=278240301&pf_rd_i=507846

with the ipod and itunes, there are a ton of great FREE video podcasts that u might be interested in - everything from science, news, sports to food. u can check out the video podcasts right in itunes before u decide which ipod to buy - just download itunes and go into Podcasts section of the iTunes Store.
