I believe it is D. Rheotaxis is simply a reaction to the environment.

My thought process to eliminate answers:
a) the birds need to see where they are going, and where is the next safe spot to stop to eat, and when to stop to eat.
b) being aware requires thought (cognition)
c) territoriality requires knowledge of boundaries
e) males will size up their competition and judge and change their behaviour depending on the females reactions.

I think every action requires a certain amount of cognition even if sometimes it seems "programed"
