.. your military advisors want your approval to bomb an enemy munitions factory. The factory however is located near a school, and if the mission is carried out, many children will die. Do you approve the mission? Please be scholarly about your answers. They must be based on the application of clear concepts, not one's personal feelings. For example, a nihilist would say do it because, in essence, nothing really matters anyway. I have a grad paper due on a similar topic, and I am just looking for some input.

Maybe to clarify a bit, I am not talking about the current president because God knows, he thinks he can do whatever he wants regardless. Also, you must assume that the children will be killed, no matter the day or time. This is pertains mainly to various schools of philosophical thought, and we must also assume that this "president" is of the Machiavellian persuasion. Thank you for the answers thus far.
