There are good social workers and bad ones like in any other profession. The basic principles of social work are "Do no harm" and Self Determination.
The problem with this is you are dealing with people that don't know what they want, so from a Social workers perspective how do you deal with that. And also consider the types of people Social Worker's deal with on a regular basis they have approach every case on a individual basis, that is why it is so confusing.
The bottom line is as a sane human being how can you trust anyone that you don't know, no matter what profession they are in. You are consulting with a Social Worker because you need help with a problem(s), so keep it professional. They are not there to be your friend they are there to help you, and look after your best interest whatever they may be.

Social Workers, who have attended an accredited college of Social Work are trained professionals. However, many agencies, including State agencies hire individuals that have not had proper training and education in case management. Most agencies, including State agencies only require a high school diploma, and give the title as "Case Manager" which many people assume are Social Worker's, but they are not. Unless the person holds a Bachelor of Social Work (B.S.W.), or a Master of Social Work (M.S.W.), they are not a Social Worker, but a Case Manager, or Foster Care Specialist, etc.. (the titles can be very misleading to the clients at times).
Why does all this matter? If that person is a Social Worker (B.S.W. on M.S.W.) and a member of NASW, they can be reported.
"The NASW Code of Ethics applies only to NASW members. If you believe a social work member of NASW is in violation of this Code of Ethics, one of your options is to file a complaint with NASW". A true Social Worker ALWAYS upholds their Code of Ethics!!
Also, if the Social Worker is certified (behind their M.S.W. on their name, there will be a C.S.W.) or licensed (behind B.S.W, they will have a L.S.W.) by the State, you can file a complaint as well. Each state has their own board and can be found on-line as well!

i am a foster mom of 4 children. which the adoption is almost complete. the social worker we had for our children just told us so many lies. it was as though she was lying to make sure we would still take the children. lies such as:1-my sons heart mumor was closed up.2-my youngest daughter did not have traces of crack in her system(we picked her up from the hospital soon as she was born) 3-my oldest was a honor roll student. we love all of our children no differently after we found out all of those things were lies through the adoption worker. so just from my experience we do not trust them and that is why i go to the doctors with my childre. i be a t the court hearings. and i go to the schools. because that way i know the truth and whats going on with my children.

Remember just be cause they have a degree doesn't mean they know everything...and they are all too human just like the rest of us. They have their prejudices, faults, past experiances, and neurosis affecting their advice.
And in the end not matter what, I personally believe people will do what THEY think is right, and will justify what they do, so take the socail worker's advice with a grain of salt. You, in the end, have the answers to all the questions that you are asking of them, and to your own problems! Good Luck

they don't "in basic terms take childrens from domicile". in maximum situations they do away with little ones from risky homes/mum and dad and paintings with the mum and dad (in the event that they are prepared) to get their little ones back. I unquestionably have considered social workers bend over backwards to get the mum and dad to get administration of their lives so as that the youngsters must be located back into the domicile. this does not constantly paintings because of the fact the mum and dad are actually not prepared to alter their existence. of direction you do hear the horror thoughts a pair of latest child that should have been taken yet wasn't and then some thing befell to them yet it rather is not the norm.
