I was 2 wks late paying my lease termination fee and now that I have paid in full, they said my status won't reflect it til I ask the credit bureau to do so. But, I am currently applying for a new apartment. I did not list my old apt as a reference. Should I tell them what happened now and show them the letter that I was paid in full or wait til they run my credit check and ask about it?

Do it now. Do not wait to explain. Changes submitted to Credit Bureaus may not show up for 45-90 days.

I dont think the credit reports update anything that's not at least a month old. You should get copies of your own reports and review them for that reason and for many others. The bureaus are Experian, Equifax and TransUnion. You have the legal right to view your credit reports yearly ... and you should do it... NOW.

Show it to them before they run the credit check. If they run it, get a bad report, but then you try to explain it later it won't come out as well.
