Terrestrial means pertaining to and of the Earth. Anything that is on the surface of the planet is terrestrial.
A satellite is something that is in orbit around the planet .... a planet. The moons of the solar system are satellites of their particular parent planet.

Or a cablewhich comes to you underground plugs into you set with the signals coming down the wire.
satellite, signal sent up to satellite which beams it back down to to your dishand into your set. In some ways better (and for people not living near cable route)

Satellite = orbiting signal generated
