I have had similar problems with one of my computers. There could be many factors. Spyware, cookies, fragmented files, or more processes than the RAM can handle. I recoment AdAware SE home .. its free and does a good job with spyware.. also windows defender is a good one to have as well.. for the cookies.. there is a free program called CCleaner, it helps resolve issues with your computer, fragmented files and cookies.. also to know how much space u have on your computer.. go to start menu, all programs, accessories, system tools.. and then system information.. that will tell u what u got goin on as far as space on RAM among other things.

it still could be a virus because not all anti-virus could detect certain new viruses. Or ur harddrive or other hardware is malfunctioning. try to backup everythign and reinstall ur computer. if the problem still exists go to a computer store and let them check it out.
