What can advertisers do to better grab your attention?

I never watch them unless they're part of a program about the best ads. The only time I stop my fastforwarding is when I see something about pirates (I love those trailers of those Pirates movies with Jack, huh, Captain Jack).
The way they put the ads on tv is annoying because you're in the middle of your program and you're supposed to suddenly worry about what kind of burger you should try! and other stuff for 2 minutes or so. The only way to keep with the spirit of your program is to record everything and FFW the ads, which will take a few seconds and allow you to almost feel like your were not interrupted.
It's like, would you enjoy sleeping, dreaming and every 10 minutes, someone would wake you up to sell you something!
Plus, I watched a movie on FX (the Insider, which I recorded at the beginning of the month) and when the ads would come, they put the sound so loud that it made my cat jump each time and gave me mini heart attacks!!! I had to hit the mute button as soon as I could to survive the experience. Those ads were FFW and muted!
I would eventually pay attention to ads if those conditions were met:
Make them better, fun, entertaining and not repetitive.
Put half (5-10min) at the beginning of the program and the other half at the end so I can enjoy my program and not come to hate those annoying ads, constantly in my way.
Stop doing those advertising at the bottom of the screen while the program is on, I hate those about as much as I hate those fake laugh tracks that ruin programs that could be funny.

Sometimes I plan on doing some small chore during the commercials. I'll go fold some laundry or unload the dishwasher. There are a few commercials that I find so amusing I watch the commercial.

I never watch live tv anymore because of the commercials. What I do is I dvr everything and watch it from there so that I can ff thru the commercials.

I have an innate ability to completely tune out TV ads.

great time to get a beer or get rid of one
(or a snack or whatever)
sell a better product, I try new things out of curiousity -
case I might like it, hate ads and salesman badgering
(know we all need a job)

I turn the sound down and answer questions for 5 mins
they couldn't, if i want something I will look for it

I watch them as some of them are funnier than a program your watching.
