3 answers

1) 4x - 2 = 7x +8
-2 = 7x -4x + 8
- 2 = 3x + 8
-2 - 8 = 3x
-10 = 3x
-10/3 = x
-1.33 = x

2) m = (10 - 8) / (3 - 2) = 2 / 1 = 2
y - y1 = m( x - x1)
y - 8 = 2 ( x - 2 )
y - 8 = 2x - 4
y = 2x -4 + 8
y= 2x + 4

So point-slope form would be the y - 8 = 2 ( x - 2)
Slope-intercept form would be the y= 2x + 4

3) 8 - (x-2) = 3x + 4
8 - x + 2 = 3x + 4
10 - x = 3x +4
10 = 3x + x + 4
10 = 4x + 4
10 -4 = 4x
6 = 4x
6/4 = x
1 1/2 = x

first one i think

4x - 2x=7x + 8
7x-4x-2=8
3x-2=8
3x=8-2
3x=4
x =4/3
so x=1.33
