It wasn't impossible, it just hadn't been done. Balloons are extremely low end technology and your only method of transport is the movement of air. It took a long time to develop the appropriate equipment to figure out the best places to be to take advantage of wind current. Many people attempted it over the years but something always went wrong. It's no easy task.

not until 1999..even now it is not possible in a "balooon" since i have never ever heard that word....
