My homework says that I have to write the two definitions in my own words. Sounds easy, but I don't know what I can say to make it sound in my own words, please help.

For starters, distance is a linear measurement. Displacement is a volume measurement.

distance is how long something is

displacement is the distance that has direction. Or other words, displacement is change in positions.

say you walk 5m. (this is distance)

say you walk 5m North (this is your displacement)
