Hilary has stated that the premise behind the movie "Dave" (1993) was rediculous because there are no secrets in the white house. Today, on "This Week", Senator Chuck Hagel of Negraska said in passing that there were no secrets in Washington D.C.

Is it true that there are no secrets in the White House and Washington D.C.?

How does an average American tap into this rumor mill?

There are always secrets in D.C. You can't really find out about it unless you know people who work there or better yet, you're on the politicians. You might hear gossip from newspundits and political columns but the real secrets aren't going to be heard.

Well the senators say that because everybody knows Bush administration wants to torture detainees, wire tap without warrant...etc. They don't really mean it literally 'no secrets' in DC.

Look at news coverages on TVs that says 'Bush administrations likes its secrets' on subject of recent attorney firings and such. They like secrets, but some times it can be obvious what that secret is.
