There is nothing in the DSM-IV that says a sociopath cannot be smart or brilliant. Look at some of the famous sociopaths such as Ted Bundy or some of the famous dictators such as Stalin.

The main characteristic of a sociopath is a lack of empathy for others. They usually do not feel remorse for their actions.

People often confuse sociopathy and Antisocial Personality Disorder with psychotic behavior.

having worked in the two the psychological healt field and in the Tenn State penitentiary device , the respond is a diffinate particular. Sociopaths are often beautiful, articulate, yet fairly manipulative. they are able to do factor that to a typical individual could be unthinkable, yet that's becuase they suspect that societies rule weren't ment for them and that they are able to do yet it particularly is that "fulfills " them, devoid of nerve-racking concerning the regulation or the different consequenses. they often are actually not rehabilitative, in basic terms play the sport from the "interior" of penitentiary.

Unquestionably. What qualifies persons to be viewed as (narcissist) sociopaths is their utter disregard for the welfare of others. Their agendas must be fullfilled, at all costs, and the suffering, problems, etc. caused others in their wake is wholly irelevant to them.

That's why the type is so well suited in this culture to be in leadership positions in government, commerce and "religion". They get the job done, and the bottom line, the holy grail in a culture as shallow and corrupt as ours, is always safeguarded :))

Oh you betcha'. Getting them to channel it for something good and positive is the key to success. A sociopath is usually someone who had early childhood trauma and perhaps had their relationship with their Mom severed. If no one cares for me then why should I care for anyone else...who cares. I don't know maybe I am getting that mixed up with anti-social behavior. After the age of 40 they mellow out and become much easier to live with. Mmm

well the others tell you the sociapats is like Einstein.
I think some of them can be severe dysfunctional and in the end prone to deep depressions, becuse if its realy a sociapat they cant care for themselevs, they simply dont care, same thing as how they treat other people...
So in the long run I doubt a real sociapat can be a superachiever
