I picked up my youngest son wrong, some how, cuz now my back hurts like you wouldnt believe!! I walk like I got a cob up my butt, and just lifting a pot of water about killed me!!! Tell me someone out there has a magical cure for this!!!!

I dont know what its called, throwing your back out, or pulling something thats not meant to be pulled, or whatever, I dont know what I did, I just know, I cant walk, lift, or even fake being happy!

Any ideas??

Sounds like you pinched a nerve when you lifted your son. I do that all the time, ugh!! What helps me is a good message in the area where it hurts. I have my husband dig his elbow right in the spot, (yes it hurts like HECK) and it somehow relieves a lot of the pain afterwards. I've also taken Motrin and that helps too.

Good luck!!

You have to see your physician. You could have pulled a muscle, pinched a nerve or herniated a disc. There is no miracle cure until you have a proper diagnosis. Sorry, but until you see your physician: don't pick up anything heavy, especially your baby and try to rest as much as a busy mother possibly can, don't bend at your waist, but bend at your knees and no leaning over washing the kids in the tub. Take ibuprofen (Advil or Motrin) for the pain and get to the doctor. Moist heat on your back can help loosen the muscles (you're having muscle spasms). I'm so sorry you're in pain, bless your heart.

p.s. Just read advice from answer above, moist heat was recommended by my surgeon, but since he's been to a recent management session, consider his advice, too.

If you want a magical cure ask a fairy or lepechaun. Ohhhh even better search for a rainbow and find the pot of gold. You can use the gold to get some real medical advice by a person who spent 8+ years in the field of medicine.

Lie on your back with your arms stretched out to the side. raise your knees with your feet flat on the floor. Now wiggle your back against the floor. Your spine is made of a lot of liquid thus your shaking it back to where it needs to rest. Now , in the same position, put one ankle on the other knee and turn your head to the opposite side. Allow both legs to relax and let gravity twist your body gently. Hold for 10 seconds and do the same on the other side. These 2 exercises will help. DO NOT use heat! Heat will cause swelling and swelling WILL make it worse! Even if it feels good...don't do it.

Sounds like a Pinched Nerve!

Without any Professional Medical care you Might TRY......

Laying Down on your Back on the Floor, without any pillow under your head and stretch out for about 15-minutes.

Bring your Knees up to your Chest and try Rocking on your back, while lying on your back.

A Heating Pad, while laying on your Back, on a Flat Surface, like the Floor.

Before going to bed, take a Glass of Wine, as a relaxer just before you go to bed, and do not use a Pillow, leave you head Flat and lay on your back!

Other than that, GO TO THE DOCTOR!

Thanks, RR

YOU MIGHT HAVE A SLIPPED DISC. THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED TO ME WHEN I PICKED UP A BOX WRONG AT WORK. TRY PUTTING ICE ON YOUR BACK FOR ABOUT 10 MIN. THEN DO A COUPLE OF EXERCISES (NONE THAT WOULD HURT YOUR BACK MORE) LIKE SOME STRETCHING AND WALKING THEN USE A HEAT PACK FOR ABOUT 10 MIN. THAT'S WHAT I DO AT PHYSICAL THERAPY AND IT HELPS. IF NOT I WOULD SUGGESTS GOING TO THE DOC.
