The term "Ballroom Dancing" has different meanings depending on the use of the term. Ballroom Dancing can be used to refer to a group of social dances that are intended to be danced in a formal ballroom setting. These dances would include the Waltz, the Foxtrot and the Tango along with a host of other dances. Ballroom Dancing can also refer to competitive partner dancing. How competitive you ask? Ballroom Dancing is now an Olympic Event. This side of Ballroom Dancing carries all of the excitement and controversy that is inherent in judged (subjective) competitions.

Are you referring to the competitive ballroom dancing? Or a specific style? For a specific style visit:

5 competitive ballroom dances: Waltz, Tango, Vienese Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep.
VERY DIFFICULT if starting older then 15 and hoping to become VERY succesful.
if you want to be succesful in ballroom dancing, you must start before you turn 8. and take it seriously. be aware that A LOT of money will go out on this. (lessons, shoes, costumes, traveling)
