Assuming you're not (yet) a legal US citizen, I can respect your honoring your country's cultural traditions and laws--evidently they're not the same as in the US.

Divorce is wildly legal in the US--which bears your only option: become a legal US citizen. This way, you'll be entitled to US laws and legally no longer bound by your country's laws.

But DO take note: even if you're a US citizen, your marriage (evidently done in your country) may be legally recognized--and hubby may NOT consent to divorce, likely he's NOT wishing for legal US citizenship. Kinda puts you back to square one.

It MAY be possible, however, to attain an UNCONTESTED divorce--even without hubby's consent. Issues here DO get legally sticky. I'd seek the service of a well versed divorce court attorney--one who has some international law background.

Either way: you MUST attain a legal divorce; bigamy IS illegal in the US.

In the USA you have to get divorced from one spouse before you can marry another one.

You already said that it's illegal to get divorced wherever you're at so if you don't get divorced, you can't get married.
