You can do it either way you suggested. But you are right; it's going to be a transition either way and he'll have to get used to it. Try the naps first if you like; do what's best for you. If he just doesn't fit in the bassinet anymore (mine didn't at 3 months), then I guess you have to do it all now. Babies are resilient; they know you love them, and they'll get used to it!!! Good luck!

Our daughter slept in a bassinet as well in our room, so to transition her to her crib we put her in her room and let her sleep some naps in the bassinet and some in the crib, and then she just got used to the crib. I also let her have time in her crib to look at her mobile and some tummy time in it, so she had no problems. Good luck and God bless

We just did that with our 4 month old. I started putting him in there and letting him look at his mobile and then started putting him there to take naps. Now he sleeps great in there. Just get him use to it. Get a fun mobile, or a baby mirror, maybe even a toy that attaches to the side of the crib. Just make it a place he enjoys. Good Luck!

Get some positioning pillows (get the ones in the baby section don't just use pillows) and use those to make him feel more snug, and when you put him in the crib trying either laying him parallel to the headboard with his face turned towards it OR with his head pressed against the top (my son really likes things pushing on his head when he sleep, why? who knows!)

you can put him in the crib starting anytime you wish
you may be right about giving him time to adjust.....but here are my tips to you:
make sure you have bumper guards
you can try wrapping him in a recieving blanket(swaddle style) this gives them the feeling of comfort they felt in the womb
you could also place him in there after he has fallen to sleep this way he will just wake up to being in there....................
and NO pillows

Start out slow, its a little bit bigger than what he's used to. Put him down for a name in there stay in there maybe read to him, something to help him calm down and let him know it's going to be ok. Eventually he will get used to it.

Maybe the mattress feels different to him? Just keep putting him in there and he will get used to it eventually.
Good luck!

make sure there is a lot of padding around him because he may feel threatened by all this new open space! He will certainly get used to it, give him some time, however!

He should be in the crib by now ESPECIALLY if he's turning over and such. You're just going to have to work with him. He'll get used to it.
